Karnival Jom Masuk U (Let’s Enter University Carnival)

At first I thought I would give this higher education fair a miss but as you can see, I changed my mind.

Karnival Jom Masuk U is actually part of the Karnival Pengajian Tinggi Negara 2011 kali ke-7 (7th National Higher Education Carnival) roadshow that kicked off this January in Terengganu. There are a total of eleven stops. This one in Ipoh is the tenth city and the last one will be at MINES International Exhibition Centre in Seri Kembangan, Selangor on 2nd and 3rd April, 2011 from 9am to 6pm.

While the crowd was sparse at last week’s 2nd Perak Education Expo 2011, this one was full of students and some parents. I found out that a lot of them came from out of state; as far away as from the east, north and south of Peninsular Malaysia. Although I have no personal interest in gaining university admission since I am more a candidate for online education (an online degree is more appealing to me at this stage) I feel that students who just received their SPM or STMP results should make their way to these education fairs. Education is so important. I wish I knew this earlier!

There are actually two sections at Karnival Jom Masuk U. One is for colleges and polytechnics, the other is for universities. 90% of the exhibitors are public colleges and universities where fees are cheaper than private institutes of higher learning.

In any case, for anyone seeking bursaries, scholarships or the PTPTN Education Loan, information is readily available. I’m sure a lot of students would like to know how to apply PTPTN loan from Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional. Just ask.

Besides information on various courses offered by public and private colleges, polytechnics and universities, there is also a blood donation drive and cartoon drawing. It’s only RM1 to get yourself drawn in cartoon form.
