It’s Shell-Out Time @ Impiana Hotel Ipoh + Get Free Sauces!!
The popular shell-out concept, which still hasn’t really caught on in Ipoh yet, will soon be available at Impiana Hotel Ipoh, offering a more pleasant ambience and a less messy dining experience. At this point in time, Impiana is possibly the only Ipoh hotel offering shell-out.
From 2nd April until 26th May (tentatively before Ramadhan), for both lunch (12pm – 2pm) and dinner (7pm – 9pm) daily except Saturdays, the hotel Coffee House will be serving shell-out seafood sets for only RM58 per platter, good for two pax. The main ingredients in each platter include:
3 pcs tiger praw
5 pcs big clams
3 pcs scallops
1 pc/cut into 4 flower crab
3 pcs half shell mussels
5 pcs bamboo clams
250g lala
Also part of the meal is 200g of plain rice for two diners. As for beverages, it is an additional RM3 per person, free flow. There are three choices – Bandung Sago Ice, Orange Cordial or Air Pula Sari, a healthy drink known for its detoxification properties.
What makes Impiana Hotel Ipoh’s shell-out experience appealing is that there are four sauces to choose from: Butter cream, Black pepper, Chilli egg and Sambal. Diners can opt for one sauce, two sauces or even all four. Chef’s recommendations are Butter cream and Sambal. My personal favourite? Butter cream!
Those who seek a heartier meal can always opt for add ons with accompanying sauce. The prices are already listed, so there is no “surprise” bill.
And then there is a long list of side orders. More rice? Noodles? Fried egg, bean curd, vegetables or just soup? They’ve got you covered.
By the way, I have good news for you! As mentioned above, the hotel is giving away free sauces. They will be distributed over three days from 3rd to 5th April, at 5.30pm until stocks for the day are exhausted.
Each day, up to 300 packets of sauces, at 300g per pack, of either butter cream, black pepper, chilli egg or sambal, are given for free to members of the public who swing by the hotel’s frontage. In total, 800 packs will be given out over three evenings.
In my opinion, this freebie offer is too good to refuse. How often do we get to recreate a shell-out seafood experience in the comfort of our own home?
Well, that’s not all. Each gift pack comes with lucky draw vouchers, for prizes such as free hotel stays and holidays to be won. Terms and conditions are stipulated on the voucher.
If you are like me, someone who don’t let a good offer pass, you ought to get your hands on the free sauce. I definitely shall be in the queue, and so should you!

I have never seen so many shells in a single buffet (is it?) setting. Seafood for me is the best indulgence.
