Introducing the Savoury Saranghae Kimchi Steamboat
Red alert, hotpot fans! The Korean wave has swept through Ipoh once again, with the introduction of Saranghae Kimchi Steamboat by Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites.
As you know, the usual steamboat fare comes with clear broth and tomyam soup base. Well, the chefs at Kinta Riverfront Hotel have given traditional steamboat (or hotpot) a twist by replacing tomyam with kimchi soup. However, tomyam is still available upon request, so don’t you worry, tomyam fans.
Although both tomyam and kimchi are savoury with a dash of spiciness mixed with sourish tang that leave a lasting impression on your palate, both have their distinctive flavour.
Having tried both, it’s not easy to say which is my preference. Perhaps it depends on my mood, or company. If the kimchi soup is not adequately spicy, there is kimchi sauce to accompany your meal, bringing the level of spiciness up, up, up and up!
The mouthwatering Saranghae Kimchi Steamboat is available at Kinta Riverfront Hotel’s Moon River Bistro daily from 6pm – 11pm. Diners are encouraged to make a reservation.
The steamboat set comes in three variants, priced at RM35, RM48 and RM68 respectively per set. Each set is good for two pax.
If you need to fill your tummy with more food or are dining with two other people making it a group of three pax, you can top up your meal with add-on items.
These items are categorised as: Seafood, Meat, Vegetables, Mushroom, Steamboat ingredients, Noodles and Others for fried rice and fried noodles, with different pricing per category.
