Installation of Dragon Mother Goddess in Ipoh

Yesterday’s auspicious morning saw the momentous event of the Dragon Mother Goddess being installed at her new temple in Taman Seri Ampang, Ipoh. The committee members of Persatuan Penganut Ibu Naga Perak (PPH 030-08-07112022) ensured that the procedure went smoothly and according to religious rites, in a ceremony steeped in Cantonese customs led by a High Taoist Priest (Sifu).

For general information, Dragon Mother Goddess is one of the patron deities of the Cantonese community. It was some months ago that the committee members were in China (Namhai, Guangzhou) to invite the spirit of the Goddess to take her place here in Ipoh. According to customary rites, the committee has to make a “homecoming” trip to the Goddess’ temple of origin every yearend, before Chinese New Year.

This location in Taman Seri Ampang is a temporary temple while the committee is looking to secure a piece of land in Perak, preferably Ipoh, for the construction of a proper temple building. Meanwhile, funds are being raised for this purpose, which can be deposited into the following bank account:
