Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm
I was very excited prior to my trip to Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm. I have never been to any strawberry farm before, either in Genting Highlands or Cameron Highlands. I guess, strawberry farms are not high on my priority list since I don’t really love the taste of the fruit.
It was pouring when we arrived and rain always spoil a little of my enthusiasm when I am on the road. Thunderstorm aside, I was not as impressed as I had expected myself to be.
The strawberries with seedlings originated from California, which were supposed to fruit throughout the year here at Genting Highlands due to the generally lower temperature, haven’t been very successful due to the El Nino effect.
When I was there and also in Fraser’s Hill and Bukit Tinggi, these places were warmer than I have anticipated. Naturally, and unfortunately, this affected the growth of the fruits.
Plus, I have no idea why the fruits look tumorous. Is this also because of the weather? The ‘normal’ average temperature here is 26 degrees Celsius, as it is 1005 metres above sea level.
Once the buds bloom, the fruits will appear in a week’s time. The fruiting cycle is three months and after five fruitings, the plant has to be replaced. There are some 10,000 plants in this farm! The taste of the strawberries produced here is sweet and at the same time, a little sourish.
I believe that when the weather gets better, this 8-year-old farm will offer a better experience to visitors. Entrance fee is RM8 (adult) and RM5 (child), by the way.
In the orchard, visitors could opt to purchase pre-packed strawberries at the price of RM15 per box weighing 250 grammes, or self-pick every 100 grammes for RM8.
Additionally, other strawberry products sold here are jams, juices and snacks.
Within the six-acre land is the Lavender Garden. No extra admission fee is imposed on visitors to enter the garden. Besides lavender, there are many other types of flowers. Opened just last year, the plants are still young. I am excited to see how it will turn out later when the plants mature.
So, would I recommend a visit to Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm? Definitely. In fact, I plan to return, but I shall wait for the weather to improve before I revisit!

Hi Nik,
Can’t recall in particular, but what stood out was that a lot of items were strawberry-based.
