Forest City By Country Garden Pacificview
The Forest City project has received quite a bit of coverage in property news for the past year. Little did I expect that I would personally visit its property showroom one day. It was made possible when I was part of the Eat.Travel.Ride.2017 delegation in conjunction with Kingz MG Malaysia’s 2nd annual ride from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and back.
Forest City comprised of four reclaimed islands near Tanjung Kupang, with gross area of 3425 acres. With an initial Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM450 billion, 220,000 job opportunities are expected to be created by Year 2035, the anticipated completion of Forest City.
This project is in the frontier of Iskandar Malaysia Special Zone, the biggest of about 60 schemes that are planned for the area. Developed and operated by Country Garden Pacificview of China (66%) and partnered with the investment arm of the state of Johor (34%), Forest City is merely 2km from Singapore.
Singapore is known as the world’s financial centre. Together with the world’s cargo hub that is the Straits of Johor and a strategic maritime gateway to the Straits of Melaka, Forest City is the ideal place to live, work and conduct businesses.
After watching the video presentation, I am truly impressed with the vision of Forest City. Plants will cover the façades of buildings in this iconic urban development that boasts a multi-layered transportation network.
Of the many sub-projects in the massive development, there will be three international-standard golf courses, designed by legendary golfer, Jack Nicklaus and his son, Jack Nicklaus II. There will also be a luxury hotel.
Forest City has indeed become the talk of the region among property investments. Among the technologies incorporated, green living and international brand names, the icing on the cake is probably its zero inheritance tax on these freehold properties.

I like the Forest City name! It incorporates natural greens to urban life, and I like that the developers doesn’t plans to ruin the beauty of the forest.
