First Purchase From China Via ezbuy Malaysia

Some of you may know that I am an avid online shopper. When the mood strikes, the Poslaju man could come a-calling at my house every other day! But I am trying to reduce my shopping as the economy is not that good and yes, I am also feeling the pinch. Then again, online shopping could be so addictive!

Shopping as much as I do, it is a surprise that I have not purchased anything from Chinese online marketplaces such as Taobao. What can I say? I’m a banana and I feel the disadvantage particularly when I cannot buy cheaper clothes! Friends have offered to help me to shop but I have declined all these while because the thought of international shipping continued to put me off.

Last week, I was introduced to ezbuy, a Taobao agent in Malaysia. Obviously, I have heard of such companies and even individuals doing this third party purchase-cum-shipping but I have never explored it until a couple of days ago.

Surfing ezbuy.my, I was like a child with a jar of candy. The thought that I can now easily shop for all these low-priced items got me into a shopping frenzy, I have to admit. Luckily, I realised on time that I still have to pay for international shipping, agent’s fees and domestic shipping (RM8 to West Malaysia).

So, I finally submitted my order after making some adjustments – I was glad to note that all the items I selected are from China. Therefore, they will all be shipped from Guangzhou. I believe that this helped me to save money on international shipping. This means that you have to be smart to know where the vendors are based to get the best bang out of your Ringgit.

The final process of ezbuy is slightly different from regular ecommerce sites where you just check out and pay your bill. At ezbuy.my, I transferred cash into my ezbuy account and utilised that money to offset my order. This has to be done within 24 hours or your order is void.

There are many different methods to pay (or top up your account on ezbuy) as you can see from my fifth image. There’s e-banking, manual internet banking, by credit card or ATM transfer. I selected manual internet banking. No matter which option you go with, remember to update your account so that your order can be processed quickly. Information required is the amount, date and time of transaction plus transaction ID.

Once my payment was verified, I received an SMS informing me that my top-up has been successful. My top-up was the amount of my order so it was used to pay for my purchases and I now have zero balance.

I now know that buying from Chinese online marketplaces is not that difficult or expensive. In fact, after dividing the shipping costs and agent’s fees with the number of items in my parcel, it is just a slight increase in price, and yet, my purchases are still cheaper than local webstores or retail stores.

A pair of leggings that I surveyed from a retail store recently cost RM29.90 but I got it via ezbuy for below RM22. That’s a hefty savings for ONE item. After multiplying the savings from the many other items that I purchased, I am extremely satisfied with my haul this time. Now, I just need to wait for my parcel to arrive. I have been informed that it would take two to three weeks, which is about the same length of time required if I were to make pre-orders from online sellers.
