Explore Kuala Kubu Bharu Heritage Landmarks & Wall Murals

The town of Kuala Kubu Bharu has a few spelling variations, from Kuala Kubu Baru to Kuala Kubu Bahru and Kuala Kubu Baharu.

However, mention KKB and most people would know where you are referring to. It was once the second largest town in Selangor and also the principal town of the District of Hulu Selangor.

KKB was and still is a popular pit stop for visitors to the hill station of Fraser’s Hill, some 45 minutes drive away.

I don’t remember how many times I have stopped at KKB previously. However, I do remember being here as a participant of the first Malaysia Tourism Hunt in 2012 which my team RudraSola won first place, just to refresh your memory.

So, during the Tourism Hunt four years ago, my team mates and I walked around the town, which only has a few rows of shop houses, to search for answers to the questions that were given to us.

This visit, I had more leisure time to explore the town and I was pleasantly surprised that even KKB has not been spared from the brushes of local artists. Look at the number of wall murals I unearthed. I am sure there are more.

I also found a hipster café amidst all the older buildings which somehow reminded me of Ipoh’s Old Town.

  1. Interesting!! Would love to check out the beautiful mural art here and explore the old town. There must be some good food here too. A food trail with interesting and historic sights would definitely be a worthwhile trip. Hope to have a chance to do that and blog about it soon 😀
