Exhibition on World’s Largest Holdall

Weighing 130kg and with the effort of 1492 individuals, the world’s largest holdall (bag lah) was sewn by using 2984 old t-shirts beginning from 15th December, 2014 and completed on 25th May, 2015.

With its completion, Mostwell Sdn. Bhd., Pusat Latihan Kraftangan Epal (EPAL), Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif (PSJK) and Koperasi Dagang Seni Malaysia (KDSM) have been listed in The Malaysia Book of Records for jointly completing the “Biggest Handbag Replica” with a size of 5.4 metres in height, 7.65 metres in length and 3.0 metres in width, at Taman Perindustrian Puchong, Selangor on 29th May, 2015.

On the same day, it was officially certified by the Guinness World Records that a world record was achieved by Mostwell Sdn. Bhd. in Puchong, Malaysia for the largest holdall which measures 7.62 metres long, 5.44 metres tall and 3.04 metres wide.

This gigantic bag is being exhibited in Ipoh Parade from 19th Feb until 28th Feb, 2016, before it will be moved to another location as it is on a nationwide tour.

While many may scoff at such an “achievement”, at least, it has brought a lot of attention to Mostwell Sdn. Bhd., the sole agent for the Japanese sewing machine brand, Janome, in Malaysia.

The project also fits its theme very well: Power of Unity from Fingertips to World Record.

During this exhibition, shoppers have the opportunity to learn to sew and to handle the sewing machine, or even purchase one of the many fabric items that are being put up for sale.

I was especially impressed with some of the fabric art pieces that were mapped using tiny scraps of cloth and joined together to form a portrait. I know I’m not describing these so well, therefore, you need to go and have a look yourself!
