Christmas Fine Dining at The Banjaran

Spending Christmas in Ipoh but don’t know where to go? How about treating yourself and your loved one on this memorable occasion by splurging on fine dining over the festive season?

The five-course dinner, specially prepared by Executive Chef Kamaruddin Kamin and his kitchen staff under the watchful eye of Michelin-starred chef, Director of Culinary Felix Eppisser, will be available on Christmas Eve at The Pomelo (Restaurant) at RM250++ per person.

The evening begins with a lighting ceremony at the Meditation Cave, followed by a cocktail reception overlooking the hot springs, before guests sit down to enjoy their dinner.

2. tuna maguro carpaccio

Starting the meal will be the tuna maguro carpaccio, Chef Kamaruddin’s own creation with an element of Christmas. It is served with lime honey dressing and decorated with edible flower and orange jelly. It looks so adorable, eating it is like break up a perfect piece of art.

3. pumpkin soup with gingerbread spices

This will be followed by pumpkin soup with gingerbread spices and pomelo sorbet with Hibiscus syrup. The main course will be a choice of either turkey breast or wild salmon.

4. maple-glazed turkey breast with star anise

Turkey breast is marinated and sous vide cooked for two hours at 65°C, then glazed with maple syrup and star anise. Brussels sprouts are served alongside.

Diners will also get to enjoy the classic Christmas food, Berny potatoes with black truffle and almond-coated flakes. The dish is complemented by cranberry sauce and dried figs.

5. wild salmon

For wild salmon, it is roasted in oven until golden brown, with cauliflower mixed with cumin seed, garlic, and pine nut salsa, and served with potato mousseline.

6. Christmas butter pudding with Panna cotta

As for dessert, diners will get to savour a traditional English Christmas pudding, though it tastes less sweet. This recipe is popular in England and other northern countries, as a welcome or thank you dessert. This butter pudding is served alongside Panna cotta and cinnamon ice cream.

Rounding up this scrumptious meal during this Yuletide season would be coffee, specially baked cookies and X’mas chocolates. A delight for those with a sweet tooth!

On Christmas Day, The Pomelo will be serving a 3-course lunch at RM150++ per pax. Before sitting down to an unforgettable lunch, guests may take a stroll around the picturesque Retreat and enjoy the ambience.

And there is more! Ring in the New Year with a lavish 5-course New Year’s Eve dinner at Pomelo and countdown at Jeff’s Cellar, sipping on cocktails against a breath-taking backdrop. Price is RM250++ per pax. Guests can also opt to revel in the party and fireworks at The Banjaran’s sister property, The Lost World of Tambun next door.
