Chinese New Year Celebration With Lord Yellow Dzambala (Wealth Deity)
人日 (Yan Yat) or “Everybody’s birthday” which falls on the seventh day of the first lunar month, was celebrated with Lord Yellow Dzambala (Wealth Deity). The celebration, for non-Muslims only, was organised by Persatuan Penganut Gonga Tenjay Ling, while Tashi Delek Collection was the co-organiser.
The celebration incorporated animal liberation, lamp offering, puja (honour, worship and devotional attention to Lord Yellow Dzambala), empowerment; followed by vegetarian dinner. This ceremony was conducted by Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Rigzin (Vajra Master), and assisted by his lamas.
As soon as Vajra Master arrived, he chanted prayers to the many fishes and turtles, prepared for the liberation ceremony. Devotees who knew the mantras chanted along, but those who did not, just observed.
Once that was completed, it was time for lamp offering to the Lord Yellow Dzambala (Wealth Deity). Each devotee was supplied with a lamp (wax candle), which was subsequently lighted. Following the prayers, we made our wishes and then offered the lamps to Lord Yellow Dzambala (Wealth Deity).
The lamp offering ceremony was ensued by the Lord Yellow Dzambala (Wealth Deity) empowerment. Before we could receive the enhancement, we had to purify our body, mind and speech first. It was a lengthy process through prayers.
After devotees had accumulated merits by participating in the ceremony yesterday, they should dedicate this good karma for the benefit of sentient beings, for them to gain happiness and prosperity not only in this life but also in future lives.
As it is Chinese New Year, the organisers had prepared a gigantic vegetarian “lou sang”. The “prosperity toss” was led by Vajra Master, along with VIP guests and generous sponsors.
