Champion of Battle of the Buskers: Gringgo n Friends

Twelve finalists took to the stage to battle it out to demonstrate that they have the prowess to win the “Battle of the Buskers” at Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima Ipoh this morning.

Each finalist had to perform two tracks. Witnessed by Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud and accompanied by Ipoh City Councillors, Council Senior Director as well as Heads of Departments, Gringgo n Friends bested the other eleven busking acts to take home RM1000 cash.

In second place was Pocket Buskers who won RM700 cash, followed by Non-stop Buskers with a prize of RM300. The Angelique and Bukhari wrapped up the Top Five positions, winning RM200 and RM100 cash respectively. In addition to the cash prize, the winners received a special souvenir. Non-stop Buskers, awarded Best Showmanship, also earned a trophy. Participants who were not placed in the Top 5 obtained consolation prizes, because everyone was a winner!

The competition was indeed keen, and the three jury members certainly did not have an easy time. Seen intent on their duties were Illya Kuryakin Bin Md Khalid from the Ipoh City Council, Syed Zarul Hisham Bin Syed Khairuddin from PORT, and Azuan Rizal Bin Ibrahim, the lead of Kombo Selendang Perak.

“Battle of the Buskers” was the final major event hosted at Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima Ipoh this year. Interesting events are planned for this new tourist attraction in the coming year. Check this Calendar of Events at Lorong Seni for 2023.
