Bata Branded Shoe Fair 2011
I hopped to Kuala Lumpur between hockey matches; yeah I know I’m crazy! I was very enthusiastic about my trip though because of the two shows at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) that I wanted to visit. One was the Bata Branded Shoe Fair, the other was a digital camera, imaging and media show, DCIM Show 2011.
DCIM Show 2011 was postponed at the last minute, unfortunately, because of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan recently. Well, that’s understandable; there was still the Bata Branded Shoe Fair and I was all the more motivated to go shoe shopping when I was informed that Public Bank debit and credit card holders will receive an additional 10% discount on purchases. Hey, I LOVE discounts upon discounts!
If you know me at all, you would know that I don’t like shopping, especially shopping for shoes. However, this shoe fair seemed huge with popular shoe brands like Bata, Comfit, Bubblegummers, Power, North Star, Weinbrenner, B First, Footin, Adidas, Reebok, Puma and Nike.
Bata Branded Shoe Fair 2011 was like a shoe warehouse sale and sad to say, even though we were forced to walk in a maze-like layout so as to make us look at all the goods for sale, I came out at the end of the maze empty-handed. I was so ready to splurge on three or four pairs of shoes since there was a “Buy More Save More” promotion where purchase of at least three pairs of shoes will give us an additional 10% discount and purchase of at least five pairs of shoes would have knocked 15% off the total bill.
So it’s true that it’s not easy to impress me; despite the mountains of shoes, none caught my eye and I felt that the discounts weren’t attractive enough.
