Announcement: Asian Women’s Empowerment Conference 2014

For the second year running, Asian Women’s Empowerment Conference (AWE in short) will be held, this time in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo.

Last year’s inaugural conference, which was hosted with the objective to empower and inspire women, particularly Asian women, was such a success that the brainchild of the conference, Juno Kim, felt that more could be done to reach out to a wider audience.

The target, as said, is Asian women who usually are compelled by society to adopt certain roles, as daughters, then as wives and mothers. How often do these women have time to think of their own goals and act upon them?

Your host:
The host of AWE, Juno, a Korean, who left her mechanical engineering career in 2010 to pursue her love for travel and to become a travel writer and photographer experienced various challenges breaking out from conventional society where she felt that there’s a need to inspire women who are in similar situations; to think, act and achieve.

Speakers:
This year’s speakers include Caroline Nguyen Ticarro-Parker (motivational speaker and director of an international NGO), Dr. Sivakumar Kumaresan (Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah), award-winning author Nisah Haron; Meaghan McGurgan (theatre artiste) and Stephen Bugno (a location independent digital nomad).
