2nd Malaysian Infantry Brigade Open Day In Conjunction with Its 68th Anniversary

Dataran MBI was abuzz with activities yesterday during the Open Day of the 2nd Malaysian Infantry Brigade (2 Briged) as part of its 68th-anniversary celebration. The event offered Ipohites a unique and educational experience into the military’s inner workings.

Impressive military equipment and assets were on display, allowing the public a rare first-hand look at tanks, vehicles, including weaponry deployed in the soldiers’ duties of safeguarding our nation. While the public had an understanding of the dedication and commitment of the security forces, they also gained insight into the capabilities and preparedness of the 2nd Infantry Brigade in the event of foreign intrusion, shedding light on the current situation of the Royal Malaysian Army.

A diverse range of activities was lined up, including a Fun Walk, Health Checks, Poetry Reading, Archery Contest, and Exhibition, among others. Beyond this excitement, the Open Day served as an excellent platform for the youth of Ipoh to gain valuable information about potential careers in the armed forces.

The 2nd Infantry Brigade (2 Briged) is based in Ipoh at the Remilies Camp. Established in October 1955 during the State of Emergency, the brigade played a vital role in countering the insurgency of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP). Understanding its history is essential to appreciate the significance of the brigade’s contributions to national security.
