2015 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup – Match 14 – S. Korea (3) – New Zealand (3)
In a do-or-die Round Robin match between Korea and New Zealand, Korea needed to win the game and take all three points while New Zealand just required a draw for one point in order to secure their spot in the finals to meet World Number 1 Australia.
Although both teams put in their best effort, when the final whistle blew, it was New Zealand who would be in the finals, by holding South Korea to a draw.
At the post-match press conference, New Zealand Coach Colin Batch acknowledged that there were too many errors committed due to the pressure. However, that’s over and done with and there’s the finals to look forward to. It would definitely be a challenge.
Consequently, Korea will face India for the bronze medal. South Korea coach, Shin Seok Kyo, said they did have a chance of winning the game, but unfortunately, they were not successful. Particularly poor was their performance in the fourth quarter.
