1 Malaysia Dinner @ Tow Boh Keong Hall, Ipoh
Attended the 1 Malaysia Dinner at Tow Boh Keong Hall in Ipoh recently. I understand that 1 Malaysia dinners are not uncommon, though this one was the largest, with a total guest count of 3600! It was organised by Kelab Penyokong Barisan Nasional Kinta (Kinta BN Supporters’ Club). Never heard of this NGO before. I wonder how much one has to pay to dine at a 1 Malaysia Dinner.
MCA Ipoh Timur Division chief Dato’ Thong Fah Chong was the first to take to the stage, calling for those whose household income is below RM3000 to apply for Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M). Next on stage was Ceylyn Tay, Gerakan Wanita Chief for Ipoh East-cum-Ipoh City Councillor for Zone 10: Simee/Ipoh Garden/Canning Garden. She represented Chinese Affairs adviser to Perak Menteri Besar cum Perak Gerakan chief Y.B. Dato’ Chang Ko Youn. She gave an emotional, powerful speech, reminding us to think twice before casting our votes in the upcoming General Elections.
Last to take the microphone was guest-of-honour, Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon. In his speech, delivered mostly in Mandarin, he presented the differences between Perak as ruled by a Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition and Barisan Nasional (BN). Wow, what a lengthy political night it was!
After the speeches, the team, led by Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah, went around the hall, stopping at each table to mingle with guests. Three young singers wrapped up the night with rendition of popular Mandarin, Malay and English songs.

Let me help Ceylyn re-phrase what you should have said instead. 1 Malaysia, 1 race, 1 country. A true 1Malaysia do not need to hv race in the I/C or any other form of registration, therefore we are 100% Malaysians and not 67% Bumi, 24% Chinese and 7% Indian. Cheers!
