I finally managed to catch a presentation by Greentown Indian Cultural Society Ipoh, after having to give their earlier shows a miss as the timing was never right. And I am glad I managed to catch last evening’s Zizthyaz by Kavithaa Chetty.

Zizthyaz dance performance

Evergreen

Zizthyaz was a mixture of Bharatnatyam and Bollywood dance performances. There were a total of five dances; the first three were solo performances, while the final two were duet performances with male guest dancer, Agilan Kumar. The opening number was a dance for Lord Shiva, entitled Shiva’s Dance.

In Search of Love

Zizthyaz means “talent” and Kavithaa certainly is blessed with an abundance of it. The 20-something young lady, a graduate of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, runs her own business, as an owner of a dance studio, conducting classes in Bharatanatyam, Bollywood and Folk dances, and an Indian couture boutique, where she designs and sells both ladies and menswear.

dancing to the upbeat Chammak Challo

While the first four dances were entertaining, the finale was a fitting climax to an amazing performance. It was an energetic duet with Agilan Kumar to Akon’s song, Chammak Challo. Special thanks to Mr. Subain Singam of Greentown Indian Cultural Society Ipoh for his two-year untiring effort in convincing Kavithaa to perform for us, and for free too!
