Transforming A Venue With Theme Design
A friend recently asked me how many events I attended over the past year. I have lost count, frankly, but it probably exceeded a thousand; some for work, some were private functions, like weddings.
In December alone, I had the opportunity to attend three wedding receptions at three different venues in Ipoh. These venues, Oversea Restaurant, Impiana Hotel Ipoh and Syuen Hotel, are my regular hangout places. However, at the wedding receptions held at these venues, they didn’t feel familiar at all because they had been totally transformed according to the theme of the evening.
The first set of photos was shot at the wedding reception of Henry and Kai Sin at Oversea Restaurant in Ipoh two weeks ago. The colour scheme was gold and silver and large reams of cloth were used to drape over the walls of the entire restaurant. The effect was amazing, totally changing the perception that I earlier had of the restaurant. It’s astounding what a little creativity and time put in could transform a venue.
