Aquarium at the Vet’s

Jan 5, 2008 Author: Emily | Filed under: Photos - Nokia E61i

Last year week, I was at my regular veterinary clinic to buy food for Snoopy. Snoopy is a high maintenance dog and his food can only be found at veterinary clinics because it’s prescription diet. BAH, it’s darn expensive but I still love him anyway.

I love to keep fishes but I hate the task of cleaning the aquarium up. I wonder why other people’s aquariums are so clean while mine was so dirty and stinky and I had to wash it at least once a week. What am I not doing right? I even had a black creepy sea creature that supposedly eats moss but all it did was get stuck onto the inside wall of the aquarium and not do its job right.

Now I have gotten rid of my aquarium since I could hardly spare the time to maintain it so what I do is just admire the aquariums of others!

That day, when I was there, I only had my Nokia E61i with me so I took the chance to shoot these photos while waiting to be served.

I would not say that I am disappointed with the quality of the photos since I have come to NOT expect anything from the camera of my mobile device. All I can say is that these photos are only good enough for web publishing but there’s still room for improvement. The full resolution shots are awful! Somebody, please tell me it is USER problem! The camera CAN’T be THAT bad?? Or am I expecting too much?

Two Dancing Santa Clauses - Video

Dec 16, 2007 Author: Emily | Filed under: Events, Photos - iPhone, Videos - Nokia E61i

I have only used the video camera of my Nokia E61i once and it was a capture of my dog pissing. I could not upload THAT video online as I had to safeguard his modesty too.

Coincidentally, I was at Ipoh Parade earlier this evening and managed to capture the last couple of minutes of this Christmas event at the concourse area of Ipoh Parade.

I was on the second floor shooting this video and come to think of it, I should have stayed on the ground floor for a clearer video but I would then have to try to avoid people’s head and backside.

Ipoh is a very pathetic backwater “city”. Want to watch Engelbert “auntie killer” Humperdinck, need to go to Genting. Want to watch Gwen Stefani or S.H.E. in concert, need to go to Kuala Lumpur.

Instead, what we get is this kind of fourth grade entertainment. Yes, I was truly entertained by these two out-of-shaped Santa Clauses who wore MASKS. Of course, we can’t see that on this video but they both had on pink masks with fake eyes and a cotton mat they call beard.

If you listen carefully, they were actually dancing to the tune of Boney M’s Mary’s Boy Child (Oh My Lord). It was very funny indeed and I am glad that I managed to catch this!

The Stage – iPhone

This picture of the stage was shot with the iPhone after the dance. You can see the huge difference in image quality. If the iPhone has video capabilites, I would have used it instead, or captured the video with a Nokia in one hand and the iPhone in the other!

The Doraemon Test

Dec 14, 2007 Author: Emily | Filed under: Photos - Nokia E61i, Photos - iPhone

Phew, I am back but my brains are fried after banging out over a hundred posts over the past couple of days. However, this post is not about how I sweated blood but about comparison shots of Nokia E61i vs. iPhone that I initially wanted to blog about the other day.

iPhone

These were taken last week at Ipoh Parade. They are having a Doraemon promotion during the month of December in conjunction with Christmas. As you can see, they have hung Doraemon cut-outs from the ceiling.

Nokia E61i

I took these shots with Nokia E61i and iPhone and for the first two shots, I stood at the same spot. The shot taken with Nokia E61i was at 1X zoom.

Once again, iPhone surprised me with its quality. The colour is so rich while the colour from Nokia looks washed out. Disappointing.

Here are some other shots taken at different angles.
