It is the tradition of Syeun Hotel Ipoh to host a Chinese New Year celebration on the third day of the Lunar New Year, usually with a double lion and a dragon dance performance.

The celebration is open to the hotel directors, management, staff, guests and also members of the public who would like to join in the festive occasion.

This year’s event was no different. The troupe from Ipoh Chin Woo, recognised as the world champion traditional lion and dragon dance troupe, was on hand to render a flawless performance for almost an hour.

The lions went to different business areas of the hotel, showering blessings on the staff and bringing good fortune to their work place, such as the reception counter, ballroom, coffee house, kitchen and offices.

With young children following the trail of the lions, it was a delightful sight to behold.

The celebration culminated with the lighting of eight strips of red firecrackers.

Amidst the deafening noise from the banging drums and clashing cymbals, we greeted one another, Gong Xi Fa Cai!

  2. Wow! Nice combo of Dragon and Lion, should have dropped by when I was told by the troupe they are performing there. Didn’t know they brought out the Dragon also.
