Restoran Kampung Ipoh
Just opened on Aug 23, 2014, this Malay kampung-style restaurant that takes up four shop lots in Sunway City Ipoh, offers more than just “kampung” food.
Located along a row of shops, a stone’s throw away from Sun Inn Hotel Tambun and Sunway Ipoh office, the owner, Hj. Zulkefli Ahmad, had wondered why there is no restaurant that could serve various cuisines under one roof.
With that thought, Restoran Kampung Ipoh serves not only kampung food, despite its name, but also steamboat and grill, à la carte and also Western food. The restaurant also accepts catering engagements.
Although our tea break was just a simple cucur cempedak, ubi kayu that’s best eaten with desiccated coconut and sugar, plus teh tarik, Restoran Kampung Ipoh’s speciality are actually mee rebus, prepared according to daddy’s secret recipe, and mee Bandung (RM5 per bowl).
The owner of Restoran Kampung Ipoh has plans to bring in a live band on selected nights.
I think this calls for a second visit. And this time, I make sure to order the popular mee rebus!
