Wooo made my way to Stadium Indera Mulia early in the morning even before the sun was up….. and 15,000 people had the same idea! Yes, that’s the estimated number of participants in this year’s Starwalk 2011, an annual event organised by The Star (newspaper) and held in conjunction with Ipoh’s 23rd City Day anniversary. I understand that this is the largest Starwalk. You can imagine the traffic jam; human traffic jam!
Flag off for the competition category was at 7am and Perak Chief Minister (MB), Dato’ Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir was on hand to do the honours. It was followed by flag off for the non-competition category, where the majority of the participants took part in. To our surprise, the MB also joined the crowd and walked but instead of completing the 7km route, he walked back to his official residence.
All in all, despite the crowd where participants of all ages came from all over the country, it was a very orderly, relaxed, family day event. Now, let me leave you with more photos…
