For anyone who yearns to get away from the concrete jungle while in Terengganu, Peladang Setiu Agro Resort is a good choice.
The resort, which opened for business in 1999, offers 58 chalets in the shape and form of traditional Malay houses. There are also three blocks of dormitories plus camping grounds.
Peladang Setiu Agro Resort reminds me of Bukit Kinding Resort. However, this Terengganu resort offers a wider range of recreational sporting activities, including flying fox, abseiling, kayaking, rappelling, fishing and jungle trekking.
The speed of the flying fox here, with a height of 50ft above ground, is about 375 km/hr. The heavier one is, the faster one flies.
Not to worry, before anyone gets to indulge in any sport, one of the trainers will conduct a mandatory safety briefing for all participants.
Being a former oil palm plantation, this resort offers plenty of tropical fruits, only if they are in season. It is also the local animal farm, where various animals are reared for food.
Another unique feature is the herbal garden, where there are approximately 120 species of Malaysian herbal plants and shrubs.
Only half an hour’s drive from the nearest beach, this is a pioneer agrotourism resort in Terengganu.
Although Peladang Setiu Agro Resort caters more to groups of delegates for seminars, courses and team building, it is also suitable for families on vacation.
Peladang Setiu Agro Resort is said to be a resort with a difference. Indeed, it may not be luxurious, but it allows one to get close to Mother Nature, a rare chance if you are a city dweller like me.
