Payang Walk, Kuala Terengganu

Payang Walk, that’s Payang Warisan ALam Kebudayaan, at Kuala Terengganu’s popular Pasar Payang, is the city’s own version of Malacca’s famous Jonker Walk.

First opened on 5th Oct, 2012, it is still an experimental project, for now opening only three days a week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6pm until midnight.

Besides offering souvenirs, craft and local delicacies, Payang Walk also offers a combination of trishaw ride, heritage trail and river cruise. I don’t think a tourist could find a more complete centralised local experience than Payang Walk.

Another thing I like about Payang Walk is that struggling artists are given a platform to showcase their artwork, as long as their art is related to Terengganu.

My visit to Payang Walk was on the first night itself. I believe that once things pick up, it would be a more happening place, not only catering to tourists but also local families.
