The Chung Shan Kindergarten was founded back in 1939, at No. 1, Chamberlain Road, Ipoh. It moved to its current location along Jalan Treacher Selatan in 1954. Over the years, the Chinese community has relentlessly supported the kindergarten, from the early days when the late Mr. Foong Siong, J.P., was the first Chairman of the Board.

The second Chairman of the Board is Mr. Foong Weng Yew, the son of Foong Siong. Between them, they guided the kindergarten for a total of 71 years! The third and current Chairman is Mr. Oon Peng Lam, KMN. AMN. Mr. Foong Weng Yew remains as Honorary Chairman.
