Received an invitation to the Mutiara Perak Awards 2012 Gala Night, so of course I had to go rub shoulders with the who’s who of Perak. It was attended by more than a thousand people, all by invitation only. Mama Rose was there too!
At the gala night, 21 Mutiara Perak Awards were presented to outstanding women who contributed greatly to Perak, for at least ten years. They need not necessarily be born in the state, though.
There was plenty of entertainment throughout the night, including performances by Kinta Valley Wind Orchestra (KVWO) conducted by Eugene Pook and by my friend, soprano Wern Sze, who rendered two songs. The Perak Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri DiRaja Sharipah Zulkifli, on the other hand, recited poetry.
