The first part of the evening was a monologue by veteran theater artiste, Khalid Salleh, whose one-man performance was entitled, Jual Ubat. With just minimal props, he was able to hold the attention of the audience for over an hour, eliciting laughter throughout his segment. Besides adhering to his topic of being a street medicine vendor, he also shared with the audience his life’s experiences which I found valuable.

The second part of the evening was a music performance by members of SNAP. Established in 2012, its objective is to gather all artistic talents in Perak, irrespective of popularity or political ideology. This group currently busks at various spots in Ipoh on a weekly basis.

The group’s music performance called “Rentak Damai” carried the street music concept. It was upbeat and had the audience of all ages clapping to the tempo. I would say, it was overall an enjoyable evening.
