Perak State VVIPs

Perak State VVIPs

I was very lucky to be able to catch this event, Majlis Perayaan Krismas 2010 & Sambutan Tahun Baru 2011, even though I arrived at Stadium Indera Mulia an hour late. This event was a State-level celebration of Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011 and most of the VVIPs of Perak graced it. I didn’t know who would be attending before the event; all I knew was that This Sanctuary would be performing at the event. Neither did I anticipate the crowd.

You can imagine my surprise when the Regent of Perak, DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah turned up along with his wife, DYTM Raja Puan Besar of Perak Zara Salim. We also had Raja Dihilir Perak DYAM Raja Jaafar bin Raja Muda Musa and his wife, DYAM Raja Nor Mahani, YAM Raja Kecil Besar Perak Raja Dato’ Seri Iskandar Dzulkarnain.

Other State dignitaries were Y.B. Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, the Chairman of the organising committee of the event, and his wife, Datin Lim Soo Lee, Perak Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir and his wife, Datin Seri Saripah Zulkifli, the Perak Chief Justice, State Secretary, State Legal Advisor, State Financial Officer, Perak Speaker, members of the State EXCO and a host of YBs, Datos and Datins, whose positions and names slipped my mind.

The event was slated to begin at 7.30pm but the VVIPs only arrived just before 9pm. We were kept entertained by the brass band from SMJK Sam Tet, Ipoh, though, so it wasn’t a boring wait. Once the VVIPs were seated, things just moved swiftly, beginning with a speech by YB Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, followed by a speech by the Menteri Besar of Perak, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir and then DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, the Regent of Perak, kicked of the event with a blast!
