KidZania Kuala Lumpur
This 80,000 sq. ft. indoor edutainment centre located at the Curve NX in Mutiara Damansara (opposite IKEA), is the brainchild of a young Mexican entrepreneur by the name of Xavier Lopez. The first KidZania was opened in Mexico in 1999. After almost 13 years, it has landed in Malaysia. KidZania Kuala Lumpur opened its doors on 28th February, 2012.
KidZania is a kid-sized city – you can find all common establishments in Kuala Lumpur, like a hospital, fire station, police department, shopping complex, bank, radio station, car dealership, theater and many more. In total, there are over sixty establishments that offer more than ninety roles to be taken on.
In KidZania, children role-play to earn money and pay for goods and services. KidZania has its own currency called kidZo. All first timers would receive a cheque for 50 kidZos, which has to be cashed in at the bank (CIMB). Major real-world brands like Vitagen, Oreo, Pos Malaysia and NSTP, just to name a few, bring authenticity, whereby staff from these companies and KidZania work closely to replicate reality in KidZania.
While playing, children learn about money management, life’s choices and explore hands-on the many different career paths. Children are empowered and inspired to be independent and to pursue their life’s dreams through role-playing.
