Keretapi Sarong 2017 #SayangMalaysia Campaign on Malaysia Day

What are your plans this Malaysia Day? If you are in Kuala Lumpur or nearby, perhaps you would like to participate in this meaningful event where you don a sarong and travel on a train (LRT, MRT and monorail) along a designated route. Named Keretapi Sarong, this is a public flash mob that promotes the use of public transport while preserving cultural attire.

During the event, you along with hundreds of sarong wearers will gather at Pasar Seni station for a quick activity and flag off. Participants then proceed to a “special location” and drop by at Muzium Negara station for the launch of #SayangMalaysia campaign. Join in the “Joget Lambak” and take some time to explore the bazaars that will be set up in front of the museum.

This event, with the objective of creating an awareness of love for the nation and among the country’s multi-ethnic races, where the different communities are united in the use of a variety of sarongs.

#SayangMalaysia Campaign 2017 is an initiative taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), which appointed Gaya Travel Magazine as media coordinator for the Keretapi Sarong 2017 promotional event.

A total of 1000 sarong wearers are expected to join in the event, including members of the public, media friends, social influencers and bloggers.

Keretapi Sarong began in 2013 and was successful in gathering 200 sarong wearers. The numbers have been increasing year by year.
