DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah International Invitational Basketball Championship 2012

guest of honour DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah

The inaugural DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah International Invitational Basketball Championship 2012 was officiated by HRH Sultan Azlan Shah. The championship, which was played over ten days from 27th March, 2012 at Stadium Indera Mulia, saw seven foreign teams and host, Perak Selection, playing their hearts out for honour for their team and country.

Although the Perak Basketball Association was first formed in 1963, this was the first time they organised an international tournament. Check out the challenge trophy in the first photo (right side). It is worth GDP17,000 and was ordered exclusively from London. As you could guess, this will be an annual tournament.

The photos I am sharing today were taken during the officiating ceremony. I would have loved to watch more games, seeing that these foreign teams represented countries with high standard of basketball playing-skills, but I just couldn’t spare the time. Too bad!
