bringing 2 U events & happenings in and around Ipoh … & beyond…
Due to short notice, besides home team, Ipoh Chinwoo Association, only one other team registered for the lion and dragon dance competitions, respectively.
Despite only two troupes participating in the two specified competitions, both teams put up their best performances, to try to outdo each other.
First off was the lion dance competition, which saw Ipoh Chinwoo starting the tournament with a lion dance performance. It was followed by a performance by Chin Woo Association USA, based in Dallas, Texas.
Although Ipoh Chinwoo performed reasonably well, a misstep on the high beam caused points to be deducted from their overall score. The championship was awarded to Chin Woo USA, which delivered a flawless presentation.
In the dragon dance competition, it was Ipoh Chinwoo versus Chinwoo Athletic Association Selangor & Kuala Lumpur. It was a stiff fight between the two troupes. As in any contest, there can only be one champion, and the victor was Ipoh Chinwoo. It was a deserving win.
These lion and dragon dance competitions were part of the 28th Malaysia National Chinese Chinwoo Carnival / International Chinwoo Wushu & Cultural Carnival 2013 hosted in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.
