Institut Darul Ridzuan, or simply known as IDR, organised a breakfast talk with the press and bloggers this morning. Its Chief Executive, Aminudin Hashim, took a step forward to better reach out to the masses and at the same time, allowed us to know in-depth the functions and objectives of IDR.
IDR is basically a think-tank of Perak, set up in March, 2009, appointing En. Aminudin as CEO in May, the same year. IDR is part of the Perak Amanjaya transformation plan, a vision of the state government to create a community of successful Perakians with sustainable high income living in harmony. This could only be achieved by taking care of three aspects; social, economic and regional.
Since its inception, for the past 30 months, IDR has implemented a host of programmes towards this end. Some of its highlights include the Perak Amanjaya International Eco Adventure, an internationally recognised eco-adventure challenge based in Perak, Malaysia which was aired on ESPN for 5 days in December, 2009, the implementation of Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) at state level headed by Dr. Mazalan bin Kamis, Director of Public Policy, and Program Transformasi Diri, a motivational programme tailored for those in the local government, teachers, etc.
Besides creating awareness for Perak Amanjaya and doing the background work of righting things at government level, IDR also created various platforms to assist the rakyat, for example, in helping with job placements, again from ground level up like preparing for a job interview, with its Pusat Kerjaya Amanjaya and Perak Amanjaya Job and Career Fair 2011.
In fact, PORT – Koloni Karyawan Amanjaya, where this breakfast talk was held, is one of the many projects under IDR. PORT, acronym for People Of Remarkable Talent, launched on 26th Nov, 2011, is an avenue for people in creative arts to showcase their talent to the public without incurring costs. This year, there will be four major festivals organised – arts festival in the first quarter, music festival in the second quarter, craft festival in the third quarter and short film festival in the fourth quarter of the year. In between these major festivals will be exhibitions on a smaller scale or even classes in arts and crafts. Sounds interesting!
