22nd SAS Cup 2013: Day 4: Match 2: New Zealand (2) – India (0)
The New Zealand team was all smiles when the Black Sticks trounced India 2 to nil in their meet on Day 4 of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh.
It was a crucial match for both teams as a win was needed to stay in contention in the tournament. Now that New Zealand had triumphed, their match against Australia on Saturday will decide who enters the finals.
In the first half of this game, both teams were hardly in the match, and it took a break to help New Zealand get into the rhythm of the game. India tried to find an opening in New Zealand’s defence but to no avail.
New Zealand coach Colin Batch said that this has been a tournament with very difficult conditions, not only in terms of the weather but also in the unevenness of the teams. The results of this match have spiced up the encounter between Australia and New Zealand on Saturday.
Final score was New Zealand 2, India 0. View (and buy) high quality photos of this match at Sports Media Group Australia.
