Similar to last year’s Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, an international invitational field hockey tournament hosted in Ipoh, this year’s 23rd edition of SAS Cup will also see six nations competing only. Pakistan withdrew at the last minute.

However, unlike last year, 2014 will see new nations competing, namely China and South Africa.
